The Intruder Tribute is a 3' X 3' X 7' black granite obelisk with laser images crafted by Laser Image & Design Inc. (http://www.imageinstone.com/) displaying Intruder photographs, graphics and write-ups. The Intruder Tribute is a project coordinated by the Intruder Association initially planned for display in the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, Florida in Hangar One near the museum’s A-6 Intruder. Executive Director of the Pensacola National Naval Aviation Museum, Captain USN (ret) Bob Rasmussen, has approved the final Tribute design and graphics and approved manufacture and installation in the Pensacola Museum. The funding drive initiated at the San Diego National Intruder Reunion 2012 banquet was very successful and is ongoing. Presently funding is adequate for the Pensacola Museum Tribute plus a second Tribute. Candidate museums for the second Tribute include the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Annex at Dulles International Airport and Museum of Flight in Seattle. Tax deductible donations can be made to the Intruder Association treasurer payable to the "Intruder Association" with note line 'Intruder Tribute' forwarded to: Geoff Swanberg Donations of $500.00 or more will have Name, Call Sign, Rank and Service listed on both/all Tributes. One section names will be reserved for $500.00 or more donations "In Memory Of". The attached links provide pictures of a model of the final approved Tribute and a collage of the final approved Tribute panels. Present plan is to have the initial Tribute installed in the Pensacola Museum this summer with formal dedication April 2014 during the next National Intruder Reunion, Pensacola. The second Tribute schedule is TBD. |
