J. F. "Bo" Boswell

  • Enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1962.
  • Served in VietNam with the First Marine Division, 1964-1965.
  • Applied for OCS under the Meritorious NCO Program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 15 Dec 1966.
  • Basic School at Quantico, VA in 1967 and was selected for the NFO program.
  • Completed BNAO School at Pensacola, FL and BJN School at Glynco, GA, 1967-1968.
  • Designated Naval Flight Officer No. G-1927 on 16 May 1968.
  • Completed Basic Attack NFO training with RVAH-3 at Albany, GA, Jul 1968 and was assigned to VMAT-AW-202 at Cherry Point, NC for A-6 Replacement Aircrew training.
  • Designated Bombardier-Navigator in the A-6, Nov 1968.
  • Flew over 100 combat missions with VMA-AW-533 in Chu Lai, RVN, 1969-1970.
  • From 1970 until retirement in 1987 as the 2d Marine Air Wing’s Logistics Operations Officer, held various assignments to include XO of VMA-AW-224; XO of MABS-14; XO of VMA-AW-533; XO of HQRON, Cherry Point, NC and Staff Secretary to the Commanding General, Marine Corps Air Bases Eastern Area. Carrier Qualified aboard the Kitty Hawk in 1975. A-6 designations included NATOPS Instructor, Post Maintenance Check Flight Crewmember, Low Altitude Tactics Training Instructor, and Mission Commander.
  • After retirement, worked for National Technologies Associates (NTA) supporting the A-6 APML at NAVAIR, 1988-1997. As NTA’s A-6 Program Manager, supported the Boeing composite wing retrofit program until the A-6 program was cancelled in 1996; then worked on the Intruder Reef project and the A-6 War Reserve Storage program at Davis-Mothan AFB, Tucson, AZ.
  • Currently employed as a Senior Logistics Analyst with Military Professional Resources, Inc. (MPRI) in Alexandria, VA supporting the Army Materiel Command in logistics transformation and modernization initiatives.
